Alyce, Mom and I got a beach house for some fun girl time, while the guys went crabbing and exploring.
So, the boys and I had saved up some $ and as soon as we were out of the airport, we hit a bike shop and got a Chrome messenger bag for our commutes. We'll have to share it for now and the guy with the short straw will be donning the old backpack. Man there are always so many cyclists in Portland. It's awesome.
We crashed in a yurt at a state park along the coast. There was a pretty heavy storm that night...interesting in a yurt, for sure.
For some reason we feel like it is tradition to stop by the Tillamook Cheese Factory. Weird, I know. (Everett's famous quote from when he was four and he stepped out of the car at the cheese factory, he said in an extremely excited voice, "I can't believe we're actually going to a cheese factory!" He was in heaven.Of course we ate Mo's, every chance we could. The BEST clam chowder EVER! The boys decided to try oyster shooters.
Everett downed his...
Jansen didn't, but it was hilarious to watch! Flaring nostrils, panic at the slimyness of it all....
Everett and I headed down to our favorite little (now big) brewery on the bay in Newport. Rogue has some yummy beers and they even dedicated one to Mo. Pretty cool. It smelled so yeasty and yummy in the brewery.
It was Mom's birthday. Paul and I wanted to eat the bottom half of the cheesecake before she got there, but it wasn't allowed. I didn't think she would notice. Then the girls took off for our beach house and lots of wine, chocolate martinis and uh, CHOCOLATE of course. One evening we even had a one armed bartender...complete with a hook. The house was great and the view of the ocean was spectacular.
I sent Mom some yarn and she made this super cool scarf for me.We hated to miss Paul play with his buddies, but we had to catch a flight back, so we headed out on Saturday morning to the Portland airport. These are very talented guys and we love listening to them.
Shey missed this trip, too, but we were looking for him...... maybe next time.
