Tsali and Yargo SERC

Tsali:

We have really gotten behind on work around here, so we sent Jansen off with Andy to the SERC race at Tsali. He had a blast and was excited about racing on a dry course. His handlebars became loose on the first descent and he didn't have a tool, so he held them in place when he could and he was bummed that he had to stop so many times to put them back in place. (but, I bet he carries a tool from now on.....) He still had a great time and enjoyed hanging out with friends.

Shey, Everett and I worked to get things done around here so we could spend the rest of the season racing. No. 1 on the list.....get rid of excess!!! We do our best to keep excess to a minimum, but we have a good bit that needs to go to Goodwill and on ebay and craigs list! We made a dent in the extra bike parts and such and our attic looks manageable. I also found a guy who was helping a neighbor fix their fence and he was very happy to take any clothes I wasn't using and any scrap metal from our old gutters, lawn mower, etc. We filled his truck.

I missed hanging out with Anet, but was glad to catch up on chores.

Yargo:

Rainy again the day before this race. Shey also needed to take a bike (big bike box in the car) to Brad at the race. So, I decided to give up room in the car, skip the mud and ride on the road to the race. It would have been 50 miles, but a dirt/gravel/dirt/bridge washed out route, caused a little detour, so I missed the start of the race. I was there to feed the guys when they came through after their first lap, so that was cool.

Everett wanted more climbing, but got in a good work-out.

Shey had a good race.

Jansen got caught behind a crash at the start, but had a good race after that.

Chase crashed hard, but that is one super tough guy and we are sure to see him flying by at Ducktown

Jafer won the expert 19-29.

Bad Brad came in right behind Jafer.

Wes was cranking it in the pro category.

Elizabeth rode very strong in her first sport category race and made the podium.

Andy was showing how fashionable fenders can be......

It's always fun to hang out with Jeremy.

These guys cannot keep their clothes together for ANYTHING!!!

Brad, Wes and Andy.

There were a ton of Cycle Youth guys out there.

Dirty Spokes at Yargo is next.

Happy Birthday Hippie Child!

Jansen turned 15 this week! Yep, learner's permit and all that jazz.

He wanted a computer monitor for his room, (which he built his own wooden mount for the wall) and a knife sharpener.

Jansen worked over the winter to enclose a work shed, so he would have a place to put all his blacksmithing, woodworking and bike tools.

Ya know, I always worried about how difficult it would be to have teenagers, but these guys are a blast.

So, HAPPY BIRTHDAY YOU SUPER COOL, LONG HAIRED, 40 YEAR OLD TRAPPED IN A 15 YEAR OLD BODY, MOUNTAIN BIKING, LATIN TRANSLATING, WOOD CARVING........ GUY!!!!
