State RR and SSUSA

Saturday was the GA State Road Race Championships and Sunday we got to play at the SSUSA and Georgia Single Speed Championships.

The boys decided to race the state RR to see where their fitness levels are. They have taken the year off from racing, but still want to make sure they are not moving backwards, so they can hit their training this winter in pretty good shape.

The boys took off to spin a bit with Lamar and the girls. They practiced their race technic by knocking Rose over in slow motion.

Everett made it back from his warm-up in the 'nick of time'. He actually got in a nice little sprint at the end of his warm-up........ :>)

He rode strong and was happy to stay in a group during the 40+ miles. He sprinted well across the finish and was immediately ready for a hamburger!

This picture shows you what Jansen was up against. He got to chase down most of guys on this team as they each worked to create a break-away.

He was thoroughly worked over by the end of the race, but held on for the podium. It was awesome to see so many juniors out on the course.







Sunday was a completely awesome day. This race was an excellent example of how much fun xc races can be. I could not believe the talent that showed up to race in Athens. Will Black, Fuzzy, Chip, Rebecca, Dejay, Shanna, Rob, Bruce and so many more. It was amazing.

Our good friends were there to share the day with us. Adam even brought his dad out and it was cool to see him outside of cyclocross season.

The grass-roots vendors were really cool and these guys were the most humble super athletes you will ever meet. Loved these wool wristbands that Bruce at Pisgah Works had for sale.

Shey got a cog from Shanna and he is hiding it from the rest of us, or I would have a picture of it up here. She makes them in Asheville. http://www.endlessbikes.com/ is the link. Very cool.

The course was crazy hard. Who knew? And four laps was pure hell, but fun at the same time. Lots of roots and cool single track. Luckily Jansen was wearing his lucky striped socks to race in, as he was worn out from the road race the day before.

Some of the guys at the SS race stole their girlfriends lingerie to wear during the race.....

Eric is about to take out Dejay on the pixie bikes. Hodge had his own set of rules, as usual.

Sven, in the one size too small skinsuit, showed up to race again this year.

Rebecca trudged through the mud at DSG and then brought her troop our way to race in GA. Always smiling and a very cool lady.

The stack of stuff that we came home with, just for being out there, was awesome. Pint glasses, cool "single and fixed shirts", hammer gel, lube.....

It was another great weekend, all around. We couldn't ask for better.
