July

We finally found a subaru outback with leather, etc.  We drove to AL to get it and we are cleaning it up right now.  Should be ready to go next month.

I started using recipes from the feed zone cookbook.  Yummy white rice goodness in little silver packages.
We happily missed nationals this year and put the money towards fun stuff like....a trials frame.  Jansen is putting together a sweet ride right now.

Indy is watching over the newest edition to the stable.
I took Jansen in to orientation at GA Tech.  I stopped by Dancing Goats coffee bar on my way through town, and luckily it was empty.  I had a lovely birthday morning to myself with some yummy coffee.
Indy is allergic to grass....but he seems to forget......
When you don't pick the cucumbers for 5 days this is what happens.
Shey has wanted one of these covers for a long time.  It's nice to have a shady place to wash bikes.
Jansen took his driver's test and passed.  We got there at 7:45am and he took the test at about 2:30pm.  We sat at DDS for hours, but it was worth it!
I love this picture of one of our hikes, because what you can't see is that Jansen has a milkshake in one hand and a hamburger in the other.  Snacking while hiking....our guys are pros at this!

WNBA The Dream!!!

Brenda posted on facebook that she has two tickets to the Dream game this week that she couldn't use.  I have really wanted to see an WNBA game and here was my chance.  Jansen wanted to go, too, so Bren emailed us the tickets and we were on our way.

Great game!  The game was awesome and the spectators sitting around us were hilarious.  Watching a game in ATL is the most fun ever!
Super fans!
The food was goood and reasonably priced and they had Heineken!  Beer and basketball!!  What's better?

Visiting Friends

For the fourth of July it was hard to find an area where it wasn't raining.  We watched the radar and found a little area along the coast where it might not rain, so we headed east.

Danger Dave opened a cool bike shop in Myrtle Beach, so we decided to stop to see him first.  We rode from the shop and I got to see some cool animals at the Waccatee Zoo along my route.
Cool park across from Dave's shop.
Danger Dave
He seems to be doing very well where he is located and I'm sure bike rentals are popular.
Dave sent us to eat at a cool mexican food place.  The nachos were insane!
Next it was off to see Adam and Nancy in Wilmington.  We arrived in time to visit a bit before dinner at a cafe on the water.  Then we drove out to the boardwalk to stand in line for donuts.  The boardwalk was "interesting" and I wasn't sure why we were waiting for 45 minutes for donuts, until my first bite.  Wow!  Totally worth standing in line all day, if needed!  These donuts are out of this world!!!!
We spent the night at Adam's then got a late start on a road ride.  Nancy was rolling on her new custom Zukas, which was gorgeous!
The ride was fun and we finished up just before it warmed up.  Adam and Shey hanging out on the porch.
It was great to see Adam and Nancy.  We spent so much time together planning and promoting the cyclocross series for a few years.  They are great people to work with and very good friends.  Hope we see them at the handmade bike show this year.

Riding North GA

Hit some new to us trails around Cloudland Canyon this past weekend.  Then headed over to Dry Creek for more single track fun.

Lots of rain this year, so a little overgrown.
Dry Creek area was in great condition.  We camped out and I had a wild boar visit my tent, while Shey slept soundly in the car.  Some protection he is.........
If the bears are going to eat all the ripe blackberries, the least they can do is clear the thorny branches off the trail!
 More singletrack fun!

June happenings

Pork chops for Father's Day

I bought some golf clubs from a little kid down the road and the guys refuse to play golf but instead use them as light sabers.
 I bought a skateboard....
and LOVE it!  It's so much fun.  I ride it around Shey when he is on his trainer.
Everett and I still hike together every week.
Jansen and I found some cool albums at a antique store when we went to pick up a Martin guitar I bought.
Shey and I explored the path around arabia mountain.
Shey raced a night race at IHP.  Our race neighbor had this on his truck.
They had a fog machine and cool decorations.  There were kids dressed as zombies in the woods.  I went for a night trail run and didn't know they were out there and scared the crap out of them.  It was funny.  I have never scared a zombie before!
 The full moon was fitting.
Shey did several laps, then we headed home.

Anniversary weekend

Shey and I celebrated our 22nd wedding anniversary this year.

22 years of fun and sharing good times with my best friend.

Georgia isn't exactly where we had planned to live for the past 20+ years, so we haven't really taken the time to explore the towns in this state.  We thought now would be a good time to start.  Savannah was our destination.  There is a small historic district to walk around and there are a couple cool art shops.  "The Dude"

The architecture was interesting and I love the various town squares.

We smelled cigar smoke, but couldn't figure out who was smoking......
We didn't take our bikes, so we decided that we would run and/or swim each day.  We made some friends on our first trail run.
Much of the trail looked like this...........
It didn't take long to explore Savannah, so we headed to Tybee Island the second day.  We enjoyed walking the beach.  Fort Pulaski was a neat treat to see on the way back from the island.  They fired canons while we were there.
After stopping at the fort, we went for a long, flat, hot run along the waterway.
We did our best not to trample all the little crabs on the path.
We had our anniversary dinner at Bubba's  (Paula Dean's brother) cafe.  The food was awesome and we were happy to get into A/C.  Yummy pound cake with ice cream and strawberries for dessert.
All of our weekends are fun and this was no exception.  Good sites, good food and the best company!  Love you Shey!
