Trans-Georgia Ride "Rob's farewell letter"

Jimbo contacted Shey with this crazy idea earlier this year. Wanna ride xc across Georgia? Seriously. These three guys have been jumping around like tomorrow is Christmas. Here is Single Speed Rob's farewell address to all:

All,

some of you (wives, girlfriends, armchair adventurers) really wanted to have this link. Others have no idea this was even going on, and that was kind of by design. Starting Friday, as early as the sleep gods will allow, Shey Lindner, Jim Smart, and myself will be piecing together David Muse's TransGA route that's been floating around for a few years in some form or another. He has put in a great deal of hard work, exploration, bushwacking and mapping to pen a route from the South Carolina border to the Alabama border consisting of as much singletrack, dirt and gravel as possible. The end result is an approximately 326 mile route with 55,500 feet of climbing through the mountains of Northern Georgia. The route puts us through the towns of Helen, and Dalton, and utilizes some of the famous Six Gap route, as well as all 100+ miles of the Pinhoti trail system.

We are simply showing up and riding it.

We will be doing this ride under the guidelines of self supported mountain biking. No pre arranged support, no food or equipment drops; everything we need we'll be carrying with us, or resupplying on or off route along the way.

We're hoping for a four day run; all of us have to be back to work on Tuesday.

You can use the link below to keep an eye on us. It's supposed to send a blip every 10 minutes while we are moving, but this ride will be its maiden voyage as well.

Thanks for watching, and personally, for those of you who support me in these endeavours,

Robb
