Ft. Yargo SERC race 2012

Jansen was happy to get out on the dirt again this weekend, since riding during the week has been sparse and on the trainer for the past few weeks.  5 AP tests, then final exams, then he will be free to start training with some intensity, for these shorter races.  All in all, glad he is taking the tougher of the two AP Chemistry classes and this is his 5th Latin class with Mr. Gammel, who is the main reason both boys decided to go ahead with public high school.  (amazing teacher!)  Good choices, but ready for some fun at the end of May, for sure!

We pre-rode the course on Saturday and it was fast...really fast.... and hard-packed.  We probably rode too much, but it felt good to be outside and the weather was amazing!

Shey worked/volunteered at the bike shop on Saturday and then stayed after to build a junior's bike.  It was a long day on his feet and he said they were incredibly busy, which is very good for the shop.  He didn't get home until after 9pm.

Sunday.  The race started at 9:30 am, which is nice for the longer races.

Jansen's start

Both Shey and Jansen has a great start. The start is short and curved with lots of pine straw, before it turns into singletrack into the woods. Their categories were big and they had some really great competition, which makes it fun.

Shey's start

Lap times were around 40 minutes and everyone was taking a bottle due to the heat starting to kick in.  Cory rode very strong through three laps.

Jansen stayed with the pro group as long as he could and was really happy with his ride.

Shey could see Eric and chased him through the first two laps and most of the third.

Great races to watch!

***Everett takes his finals at Kennesaw this week, so best of luck to him!****
