Huracan 300 Quick Notes (write-up to follow)

I'll have a write-up soon, but here are a few notes from the Lindners.

(I was really looking forward to a long ride like this and was pretty stoked that Shey decided to come with me.  But that meant a lot of planning for the boys and animals to be taken care of for the weekend......and that was the most stressful part, but they worked everything out and even though Jansen ended up on a 3+ hour ride, in the rain pulling 30 lbs on my trailer behind his bike, I was happy that everyone was safe....more about that later)

1.     If you see a place to top off your water.............do it!

2.     Ice cream sandwiches are the bomb!

3.     Sand is not my favorite thing to ride on/in/sink-into.

4.     Apopka has the most alligators I have ever seen in my life.....but if you sing loud and badly they stay away from you.

5.      When flying down the Withaloochee paved trail, watch out for pigs.....for real.....

6.       Chad does one mean sasquatch impression.  (he also still wants to call a truce)

7.        Jason loves Subway and may never eat oranges again.  (and he likes to taunt others with his light little osprey waist pack.............)

8.        Cross-man likes the sand just as much as I do.

9.        Chamois cream rocks my world!

10.      A craving for mac-n-cheese during the last 20 miles can drive you insane.

12.     Mountain bikers are like C.I.A. agents/Davy Crockets with the way they track other's tire tracks for 300 miles.  That's just cool.

13.    You should turn on your gps BEFORE you start to ride.

14.   For a little device with only four buttons, the SPOT sure seems to be a subject of much confusion over when to push the buttons and which service is needed.

15.   People in town get very excited when they find out you are riding 300 miles.  Pictures are taken and lots of questions asked.  They also like to offer a variety of numbers of riders who are ahead of you whether you ask or not.  : > )

16.   Irrigation hoses look a lot like snakes.  But, snakes look a lot like snakes, too.

17.   Overweight roadies attempting to do a century are about as polite as......well.......overweight roadies attempting to do a century.

18.    Doing all the stuff you loved as a kid, riding a bike, wading in the river, staying outside and playing as late as possible, climbing fences, eating ice cream, taking time to check out the wild animals, sharing the adventure with friends and telling stories about your adventures...........................it's still as much fun 30 years later!

**

More coming soon............
