This is obviously Elizabeth, as I was still yawning...........not smiling.........
The course is laid out through Grant Park and even travels along some cobble-stone streets and a narrow dirt path/road. It is a fast course and is a lot of fun. There were about 5 guys and the two of us.
There were bright pink arrows along the start of the course, but then the pink arrows were gone and the guys had their own course in mind, so we did our best to follow. When we lost them, on the second lap, we just made up our own course until they came back around and we caught their wheel, again. After three laps, we had the course memorized and continued on for a really great two hour workout. Their course had a little bit of everything, which kept it exciting. (road, grass, dirt, tight turns, grassy climbs, barriers, fast descents, loose run up, cobble-stone, dirt road, curbs and more)
Elizabeth flying down a grassy hill.
Dirty, dirty.
Two hours of pedaling and ready for some breakfast!
We stopped in at Gear Revival to see what cool things they had for the winter. Then we drove over to the Flying Biscuit for a BIG breakfast, yum, and a little shopping in downtown Decatur.
When I got home the little girls from across the street were quite upset that "mumblemumblemumble" had broken their leg. It took me a bit to gather that no PERSON or ANIMAL had broken their leg and it was actually her stuffed animal that she was so upset about. So I took it inside and performed surgery. The little dog/sheep/not-really-sure is good as new and I have a happy little neighbor!
So, Elizabeth and I had a pretty great Friday. Good workout, good food, good company and lots of talk about racing, gardening, chickens and future careers!
