Dirty Kanza 2012 and BiketoBike @ Durhamtown Plantation

Shey and Brian took a road trip to Emporia, Kansas to race the Dirty Kanza 200.  This is a 200 mile gravel road ride which is notorious for it's ability to cause flats along the way.

Thanks goodness the guys remembered the sunscreen!  It doesn't look like there is much shade out there.  Both guys had a great race.  Shey flatted three times and I think Brian flatted once.  That flint rock is pretty sharp......  Shey said the whole town was at the finish cheering for each rider as they came through.

While Shey was gone I headed out to Durhamtown Plantation to race my mtb on a motocross course.  Jafer, Elizabeth, Jim, Andy and Cara were there.  We rode around a pump track for just over a mile, then hit the muddy singletrack section for 10 miles before jumping on our road bikes for another 20.   It was so much fun!!  The promoters were awesome (I mean really awesome!) and the payout was super sweet!  200 winner (equal payout to women), 200 fastest mtb lap, 200 fastest road lap, 200 fastest combined laps....not too shabby!  The weather was perfect and I had a blast.  I couldn't get my body to put out any intensity, but it felt really good to do something short and fast for a change.  The food and Sweetwater beer after were really yummy.   http://www.biketobike.org/#!schedule
