Everett is 16 !!!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY EVERETT (the boys have always had their own brand of humor, which is a puzzle to some, but I think is hilarious....hence the lit frog)

We have never fit the description of "normal", so why start now? What could be better on your 16th birthday, then touring a bunch of grave sites? So, we headed to Oakland Cemetery for Everett's birthday. Extremely cool place. Shey over-slept and missed his cross practice, so it was very nice to have him with us for the day.
Neat statues, head stones and mausoleums.
This is what we look like when we are not on bikes, carrying backpacks or wearing a life vest.
Next, we hit our favorite organic cafe, the Flying Biscuit. Yum.

Can't believe he is 16! Man, it has flown by. I can't say enough how much fun it has been to raise this guy and spend so many great years with him.

The ceremonial lighting of the frog.......

He saved the frog from a terribly painful head-burn.

Yeah, so the cake didn't quite make it to the actual birthday, but Southern Sweets makes an AWESOME German Chocolate Cake that is perfect for dinner and breakfast!

Everett has a great love of gas masks, so we found a t-shirt with people riding bikes, while wearing gas masks. So fitting.

Jansen....enough said.

Cool Pics from the Cyclocross Clinic

Here are a few shots from our Cyclocross Clinic this weekend. Huge thanks to everyone for coming out. We always have so many great friends who come to make sure everyone gets the attention and instruction they need. We had a blast and hope everyone else did, as well!

They were jumping barriers like pros within a few minutes!

Ah, those fun run-ups.

We had 17 awesome guys and girls out today. The weather was PERFECT!!! Four Cycle Youth guys showed and picked up the skills very quickly.
Part of the Hinkle dynamic duo. Seriously getting some air.

Kindle, showing us how it's done.

Brent and Trent, from Conte's, race over the barriers. HUGE thanks to Scooter for mowing the area for us. We were very happy that Conte's allowed us to use their field and more importantly....their bathroom!

The other Hinkle powerhouse. This guy was flying on his seat before you could blink and could clear those barriers in seconds!

Just a little practice and those barriers are not so scary.

Georgia Single Speed Championships are Coming...

Our favorite race is coming up! Georgia Single Speed Championships will be here soon.

It's being held in Macon and, word to the wise, ........ it's not flat. We were extremely pleased with the course and it's variety. Great single-track and it's very cool to have a different kind of course each year.

The jerseys are extremely hot this year, thanks to Mr. Dan Coy. That man has some serious cycling art talent. (I'm still dying for one of his gravel/dirt road shirts with the cool skeleton guy.)

Check out the argyle! This will be the prize to win for sure!

Of course we have to have pint glasses. And socks are coming, too. Not just any socks, but those cool tall socks with retro stripes, argyle and everything!

Shey and Adam are class acts and do everything in their power to put on an excellent race. It's great to work with them.

Taking a break after checking out the SS course. Of course, we HAD to play on the bmx pump track, over and over and over again!

Looking forward to seeing our crazy NC buddies again this year!

August Fun

We are thoroughly enjoying the down time and fun rides after nationals. Long rides with friends and family and commuting to Jansen's work. Ice Cream has never tasted so good!!

Shey and Adam have been working on the GSSC race and cyclocross series all year, but it is crunch time for the rest of us.

Everett grew two pumpkins and roasted the seeds from one. Yum!

Shey's Birthday brought two new kids into our family.....baby goats, that is.

The guys heading off for a birthday ride.

Park Tools, more Twin Six shirts and socks and goats. Cool birthday!

Ooooooh. A big man hex wrench.

Lots of fliers to be folded, prizes to be picked up, clinics to be put on and paper work to be filled out. (I can't wait until the end of December....ya know....when we get to sleep, again!) But, it's all great fun and totally worth it when we see the racers having a good time.
