February Fun

February was a blur of hiking for me and riding for Shey.  We skipped our normal run down to Florida to warm up, since we know we will be going in March.  It's getting cold here!

My hiking and short run partner.
Long runs make her grumpy.  I accidentally took us on a run that covered 20 miles and she was quite cranky with me.

Jafer got a NEW BIKE!  Then he ditched me for Chinese dumplings.....not sure what that's about.

Happy Jafer!

Jane took off to have some fun, so I did inventory at the shop while she was gone and that meant I got to have lunch with the boys.  Listening to their conversation at the bike stands was hilarious!  Very entertaining, indeed!  Who knew mechanics were so witty?

Even when on the trainers, Shey has to be in front.......rude!

I forgot to take pictures of any of our rides or anything exciting really.  Bummer.  So, here's Serena.

Another day Another run!

Good to Go Home

Shey and I had the chance to go home and spend some time with his family in TX.

His Nana showed him how cycling was REALLY done!

She seems to be the boss of her new retirement facility and likes her apartment very much.

I snapped a shot of my Aunt Tina and Uncle Harry's house.

They were pretty amazing people and I miss them very much.  They did not have any children, but most days when I drove by their house there would be a car there with someone visiting.  They certainly were surrounded by family and good friends.
We had a nice lunch with Shey's mom in Kerrville after visiting with his Nana.

We stayed at Shey's sister's house.  This is the gate to Amber's place.  Her property is right between her dad and where her Oma and Opa lived.  It's lovely land.
Amber and Donnie's house.
We got to visit quite a bit with Kenneth and Kristina.  They have a very cool house with some really neat outbuildings.

Kenneth and Shey

They find things on their property and sometimes get to guess what it is used for....

not really sure
Kenneth put in that fireplace.  He's quite the handy guy!
They have an extensive fur family.

Shey jumped in a race in our hometown.  (no there was NO mountain biking when we grew up there)
The course was pretty cool.  We got there early so I could go for a run on the singletrack.  GREAT singletrack, but had the crap scared out of me when I flew around a corner straight into a bull.  The rest of the cattle just stood there staring, but the bull and I took off in opposite directions.

And they are off.

It was muddy, so Amber and Donnie let us put the mtb in the back of their truck.  To ensure it's safety Amber rode home beside it and whispered sweet nothings to the drivetrain.
Yep, she's in there!
It was really nice to spend time with Amber, again.  She was a kind friend when we were teenagers (wow, that long ago!) and has been a wonderful sister-in-law.  I also got to spend some time catching up with Shey's little sister, KC.  Shey and I moved away just as she was starting elementary school, I think.  She has turned into a very cool and strong adult.  I LIKE her!

I miss Aunt Debbie's hair.  For real.  I loved the way it would light up the room when the ceiling lights hit the deep purple or auburn color.  It would make the living room look like a cocktail lounge.  And I miss that you didn't know what color it would be and if she would have a white stripe or not.  Her hair is normal now.  That's weird.  I think I'll offer her $20 and some oreos to fire it up again!

Suzanne, Amber, KC and Aunt Debbie.   How the ladies visit.

How the guys visit.  Trevor, Donnie, Glenn, Shey.....yep, reality TV time!!!
Shey made a friend.
Walking down Amber's driveway.  Lovely views!
Longhorns across the road.
One of the outbuildings at Kenneth's place.  The kitchen.
The main house with another smaller cottage to the right.
Shey and Kenneth.  They called that morning to make sure they would match for photos.

Walking the road in front of the Lindner's land.

It was a good visit and we were comfortable and happy to see everyone.  Amber said she wanted to come visit us in Georgia.  Then decided she didn't want to come if were going to take her on any of our crazy adventures.......

Looking forward to next time!
