2012 SERC race at Olympic Trails in Conyers

It was a windy day after a night of rain for the SERC race at the Olympic Mountain Bike Trails in Conyers, GA.

The course was in good condition, though, with only a few patches of mud on the "dirt" side of the course.

Jansen in the junior-ex category, starting with the pros.  We are really excited to have the junior-expert category back, so the race length compares to those of the national and international races.  BIG thanks to the Bergers for helping us prepare our juniors for Nationals.  Dave, Terry and Austin always look at the big picture for our racers and we are very fortunate to have them promoting top quality regional races.  (if only the national races were promoted as well.....we are quite spoiled!)

Shey raced the 30-39 ex category, instead of admitting his age.........Andy did the same.

Ryan, Cory, third pro and Jansen (second or third lap in).

Shey finishing up.

Shey on the granite.  (thanks to Jim Behning for the photo)  Shey laid out the course and had many CTown volunteers to help him over the weekend.  The course included the tunnel that was built so cyclists could safely cross the road without encountering traffic.  Shey spent several days pulling many-many-many wheelbarrows full of sand and mud out of those tunnels.  Thanks babe!

Jansen on the power-line climb.

Cory, the supah stah, interviewed by Dave, the intergalactic head honcho.

Jane, "I wasn't throwing the stick at his head" and Jansen.

Junior ex podium
30-39 podium

Pro podium.

**Great day of racing, with Everett helping the Bergers and us all day, too.  I rode out to the event and back home, while the guys helped the Bergers pack up, then they headed out for much deserved hamburgers.
