Another warm sunny weekend in JANUARY!

This weekend was 67 degrees and sunny in GA!  And it's only getting warmer this week, with a high of 70!  Ah, what a great time to play outside.

Shey chose a marathon race in TX to add some new trail to his base training.   This is a 54 mile race with two laps on two loops.  Nice!  Who wants to ride the same short loop 15 times.....

He loved the trail, but was surprised as the guys jumped at the start like it was the middle of race season....well, it was for the marathon race series in TX.  This is a series that runs from November through January this is one of the last races for them (or possibly the last one), so Shey had to concentrate on his zone 1-2 ride.  He sounded like he really, really liked the course and you just can't beat yummy fajitas after!

At home, Everett stayed at KSU to study and Jansen worked on some more blacksmithing projects.   Movie night on the trainer for Sat., then I gave Jansen my old que sheet with vague directions to Yargo and I drove over there to meet Elizabeth.

Jansen called once to make sure he was going in the right direction.  I think he hopped on the highway early, but I will have to do some recon work to find the name of the road we are supposed to take at that junction......so, in 3+ hours he made it to Yargo and then road 1+laps.  Elizabeth and I rode two laps, then hiked for a bit.  Snickers were added in there to make it a perfect day!

We met Carla Swartz's dad, Deon and two of his friends.  Deon reconized the helmet that Elizabeth was wearing from Fulton Flyers and said he had Carla's at home.  He was very excited to visit with Elizabeth and ask about her Louis Garneau factory team for 2012.  Carla was an amazing athlete and the only cyclist to win all four U.S. collegiate cycling titles: road, track, mountain, and cyclocross in 2008.  And that was just a drop in the bucket!  Fulton Flyers has seen many strong athletes come out of their program and the loss of Carla, who had such a bright future, was quite a blow.

After a great ride, we all hit Ruby Tuesday for some yummy recovery food.
