Oregon Girls Trip 2014

Every other year my mom and my aunt and I spend a week together.  The first trip was to Italy, but since then we have rented a house in Oregon, near where my Aunt Alyce lives along the coast.

On Friday, Mom and I met in the Portland airport, rented a car and headed to a hotel.  The next morning we strolled through Saturday Market and picked up a few things (I like to get my clothing here), then headed west to the coast and Mo's!!  Mo's is always my first priority when hitting the Oregon coast.  I could live off this stuff!

We were thrilled to see Paul play at Nana's Irish Pub.

Hanging out with the gang while Paul plays.

Famous landmark
Paul cooked us breakfast fit for queens.

I've known this picture of Alyce and her friends since I was a little girl.  Alyce is bottom left.
The Oregonian tribe
And the guys
Our house on Moolack Bay was very nice.  Each room was amazing and the overall view of the ocean  from the living room and deck was perfect.

My bathroom was pretty sweet.
Mom found a roll of film in her mother's belongings in the attic and had it developed.  She surprised Alyce with this framed photo of them as children.  Alyce (left) looks the same.
View from the deck.

Strolling the bay front in Newport.

Seagulls
Love these guys.  Some are dubbed the "bad boys" and are tagged and placed in another location if they cause too much damage.
QVC shopping
Paul stopped by to share the Salmon he caught for dinner.
Aunt Alyce and me
Me, Mom and Alyce.....good people.
Mom learns more tricks to cooking salmon.
Then Paul saves the salmon.
Yummy dinner of Salmon, salad and tamales????

I have been looking for some cool knit beanies at the markets, and finally found a few on this trip.....just a few.......maybe more than a few.  We had a great time meeting up with a lady at her community club house and trying on lots of hats!

Yummy Dutch Brothers Coffee!!  EVERY DAY!
Of course we stopped by Rogue.   We have all watched them go from "garage" to huge warehouse brewery.  Good stuff!

We didn't make it to Voodoo doughnuts this time, but we did get the beer based on my favorite doughnut of theirs.

Visiting with Sue and Brian.  I think this is the first time I didn't walk away with one of his carvings.....hmmm, I might have to remedy that.  He is an amazing artist and I always enjoy visiting with them both.
Paul took us out to dinner....the best steak I have had in a long time!  Mom and Alyce ordered Manhattans.  Very strong Manhattans.

At the house we had B & B....

And chocolate martinis....
More bayfront walking
I never get tired of this scene
Haystack rock in Pacific City.
Strolling the beach
I love the landscape
Newport Bridge
We also stopped in at the marine science center, where this guy was smiling.
So cute

King Paul found his throne back at the house

We drove into Corvallis to do some shopping and have lunch.  Cool, fun shops and Footwise for Birkis!

Almost time to vote....

Mathijs and  Rachel met us at Alyce and Paul's then we headed in to eat at Mo's.
Rachel's birthday was last weekend, so we continued the celebration.

Mom stayed at a hotel in Portland while I caught a flight home on Sunday night.  We had another great week together and I am, again, so thankful for our health and ability to meet each other in this way.  Love you all very much!
